This will primarily depend on your application method. Using nail glue will likely need to be removed by filing & soaking off which does not preserve the press on. By using sticky nail tape, your wear will be more temporary but you are also more likely to be able to reuse your press-ons, making this method ideal for holidays, photoshoots, concerts, events, etc.

For nail glue: start by clipping them short & filing down the bulk. Soak them in acetone for 10-15 minutes before using a cuticle pusher to scrape off the remaining product. Use a gentle buffer to smooth the surface of your nails.
